Christmas in Minnesota

Where does the time go?  I was suppose to have this post done 3 weeks ago.  I am going to blame Pinterest!  I have been so busy stalking other people's blogs that I am neglecting my own!

At the end of January we had Christmas on my side.  It actually was kind of nice to break it up a little, and to not have to cram it all into December.  Another great thing was that we were all able to make it home.  It was a house full- but that is the best when you don't get to see your family too often!

Matt, Ryah, Jessie, and I left early in the morning on Friday so that we could arrive by early afternoon to spend more time with everyone.  The ride up was not as smooth as I planned, but that is bound to happen when you ride together in a car for 5 hours.

Here are a few pictures from the weekend.  I have to admit, I might have been a little too on "vacation" mode cause I forgot to take any pictures.  Thankfully my sisters and parents captured some snapshots.

This was hilarious!  She got a barbie that came with this dog and cart, but Ryah thought it was for her to push the dog around in it.

She looks so grown up in this picture

The adults had a great time playing the white elephant gift and exchanging girl and guy gifts.  I think Ashley received the best white elephant gift! (I wrapped up a purse that her and Alisa would always make fun of me for carrying!).

Thanks to my mom and dad for making this Christmas just as special as when we were kids.  We even received our lifesaver books (a tradition that my parents started for us since we were kids).

Flu Bug

Ryah + Stomach Flu = extra cuddle time with mommy

2 nights ago- Ryah had a touch of the stomach flu.  I heard her crying in her bed and thought she must have gotten cold and needed her covers.  Much to my suprise, she had vomitted all over.  I can't remember the last time I have smelt vomit- YUCK!  Thankfully Matt came in and took all of her sheets straight to the washer, so all I had to do was wash her up.  Since it was 1:30a.m. I wasn't about to remake her bed- so the 3 of us snuggled in our bed.  About 30 min later- she puked again.  This time on our pillows and sheets!  After changing the bedding, we were able to get some sleep.
Unfortunately Matt and I had to work- but Uncle Aaron was able to come over for a few hours to watch Ryah.  After I got home from work, Ryah seemed to be feeling somewhat better.

home sick and playing with her babies

I know you can't tell by the picture, but Ryah brought her babies into the kitchen and made a bed for them and her (her babies are covered up with the blankets) I thought this was so cute.

The best part of being sick- is the next day Mom still feels sorry for her, so she had Burger King for supper.

Naughty!

Well, Well, Well- and so the hitting begins.  Here I thought I the sweetest little girl in the world.  I knew she had a temper (look at who her parents are) but I thought maybe she was just sassy towards us.  The other day Ryah got sent home with a "Sad Note" from daycare.  Missy told me that Ryah had been picking on Jaxson all day, and hit him on 3 different occasions.  She was sent to Time Out each time, but apparently didn't learn her lesson.
I know it's not right- but it kind of makes me giggle on the inside as I can only help but think "she isn't going to take crap from anyone that gets in her way!"  So, for the time being- we are working on being Nice and not hitting or throwing things.

Sad note from daycare

18/19 months old

Ryah is growing up so fast- it makes me sad and happy at the same time.  Her 18 month appt with Dr. Andresen went well.  Although Ryah wasn't too cooperative, he said Ryah is developing well and he has no concerns.  He even mentioned the "p" word (potty training)... yikes!  Not sure I am prepared for this.

Here are her stats from her appt
Height:  33.5 inches (93%)
Weight:  27lbs (80%)
Head circum 48.4cm (92%)

At 18/19 months Ryah enjoys:
-playing with her baby dolls
-playing with shoes (and trying every pair on)
-playing dress up
-playing with building blocks
-watching her baby einstein videos
-playing outside on nice days and going to the park
-reading books
-singing songs

Ryah's new favorite word is "NO."  Everytime we ask her a question, the answer is "NO."
For instance- Ryah, do you need to have your diaper changed.... "NO"
Ryah, do you want some fruit.... "NO"

Ryah's other words that are new to her vocabulary are:
nak.... aka snack
mo.... aka elmo
pa...  aka grandpa
babies.... aka babies
me... aka Missy (daycare lady)
buddies... aka baby einstein movie (she used to like the curious buddies videos, so now any movie is buddies)
