6 months old

I can hardly believe that my baby is 6 months old.  We had her 6 month appointment last Thursday with Dr. Andresen.  He gave her a clean bill of health and had no concerns.  Ryah was such a Big Girl with her shots too.  I am not sure how long the sugar water trick will work, but I will use it as long as I can.

6 Month Stats
Height:  27 inches (90th percentile)
Weight:  18lbs 1.5 oz (87th percentile)
Head Circum:  43.7cm (84th percentile)

Ryah's likes:
- eating the minute she wakes up (and not 1 minute later!)
- jumping in her jumperoo (as you will see in the video below)
- watching her mom do the crazy dance (don't ask, cause I won't show anyone)
- playing with all the kids at daycare
- splashing in the bath tub
- playing with Jessie
- being around people (so far she hasn't shown any fears of strangers)

Ryah's milestones:
- eating baby food (fruits and veggies) and rice cereal
- sitting up by herself
- rolling like a tumbleweed all over the place
- throws a fit if she gets stuck

I was writing this blog and found her like this.

Happy New Year

My husband and I decided to ring in the new year by celebrating with friends, food, and a few adult beverages (since last year I was preggo and sicker than a dog!)  We joined 7 other couples at Kobe Steak House for dinner.  After filling our stomachs Matt and I headed over to Goldeez to listen to "7 day Stretch."  Matt's best friend, Kory, is the lead singer in the band.  We had a great time people watching.  You sure can tell we are getting old, we were home and in bed by 12:30!

Cheers to 2011!

5.5 months old

Since I have a little extra free time this evening, I thought I would give everyone a couple extra blog posts, to make up for the times that I slack.

Ryah has tried a few more veggies and fruits.  As you can tell by these pictures, carrots are her favorite.

Ryah is getting so strong and is able to sit by herself for a few seconds.  She also has a new best friend, Jessie, who never leaves her side

Merry Christmas

We decided to head up to Montevideo this year for Christmas.  We were able to beat the snow storm and had a nice relaxing drive.  Ryah was so good, she started to fuss about 40 min outside of Montevideo- but I don't blame her- cause that is when I start going stir crazy and want to get out of the car.  Matt and I were  able to enjoy ourselves and relax as my sisters and mom and dad took care of Ryah.  She LOVED all the attention!

On Christmas Eve we all went over to Grandma and Grandpa Schmidt's.  It is so much fun to visit with all my family since I don't get to see them very often.  We decided to wear ugly sweaters again this year-  I think this is starting to become a tradition.
I have to thank my mother-in-law for the great idea of making my own Christmas sweater!

Ryah loves playing with wrapping paper

On Christmas Day we opened presents at my parent's house.  I don't think I even changed out of my pajamas all day.  But that is what vacation is for... right?  We all must have been good this year because we got spoiled with gifts!
My sisters and I opening our present from "Santa"

"Santa" thought Matt could use something besides NY Yankee apparel

My sister Ashley got me this game as a gift-  we used to play this game for hours back in junior high

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas like we did!  We are blessed with such wonderful families.
